It's been a decade since the first time six maximums were hit in a T20I match. Feel old yet? And no prizes for guessing who the man was.

On 19th September, 2007, India's Yuvraj Singh became the first-ever batsman to send six balls over the boundary in a row for the first time in a T20I. He hammered England's Stuart Broad to every corner of the ground in the 19th over of the match.

He was the first Indian and second overall player to achieve the feat in international cricket. Herschelle Gibbs was the first player to hit 6 sixes in an over. He tonked Daan van Bunge of The Netherlands, all around the park at St.Kitts in the 2007 World Cup.

Sir Garfield Sobers was the first one to achieve the feat. He achieved it in a first-class match against Glamorgan for Nottinghamshire back in 1968. Ravi Shastri was the first Indian and second overall to do so. The current India coach did so against Baroda while representing Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1985. Since then Alex Hales, Mishbah-ul-Haq, Ross Whiteley have all hammered 36 runs from 6 balls in first class games.

But, Yuvraj's achievement was special. Not only because of the tremendous hitting but also because of the events that led to it in Durban. Yuvi was on a rampage and hitting the ball well and India were cruising along at 159/3 in the 18th over. With Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj at the crease, India were looking at a strong finish.

Andrew Flintoff was bowling the 18th over and Dhoni was quick to give the strike back to his partner because he was timing the ball well. He hit two boundaries off Freddie and the English all-rounder didn't enjoy that. Between the overs there was a face-off with some verbal exchanges, which didn't go down well with the Punjab batsman and fired him up.

And what followed was nothing short of spectacular.

India were 171/3 when Broad came onto ball. Yuvraj backed away and heaved the ball over deep-midwicket for the first six. The next ball was bowled around middle and leg and Yuvraj had no problem to flick it off his pads for six more - wristy! The camera panned to Flintoff and he was seen shaking his head but that was not it. The next ball was pitched up and he played a classical lofted cover drive for the third maximum between long-off and covers. 'Absolute carnage,' said Shastri in the commentary box. Broad had no idea about what to do and he changed the angle to come round the wicket, only to bowl a waist height full-toss and Yuvi obliged by depositing it over the point boundary. 4 in 4.

Now, a clueless Broad changed the angle again and went over the wicket. He bowled an off-stump line just around the mid-pitch mark and the result was the same. This time over deep square leg. 5-in-a-row. A helpless Broad could only offer a clueless smile but the crowd was having a ball. Broad charged in for the last ball, almost like he has given up, balling in the same area and bang! Deposited over deep mid wicket for the sixth one. 36 runs in an over and 50 off 12 balls for Yuvraj Singh at a staggering strike-rate of 416.7. India finished with 218/4 from their 20 overs and went onto win the game by 18 runs in the Super-8 game.

Yuvi's 12-ball effort is still the fastest T20I fifty ever.

Incidentally, India's current ODI vice captain Rohit Sharma also made his debut in that match.
